COLLOIDAL SILICA CONCENTRATION
In conventional treatment, colloidal silica is concentrated by evaporation method. This conventional method causes increase in steam & power consumption resulting in high operational cost to concentrate colloidal silica from 15% to 40%.
Newly developed, Ultra filtration (UF) tubular membrane system is used as an intermediate process/ step to concentrate Colloidal Silica from 15% to 25%. 25% concentrated stream is fed to evaporator to increase concentration up to 40%. Ultra filtration (UF) tubular membrane system saves cost of fuel/ energy consumption of evaporator and hence makes the process economically feasible compared to conventional treatment.
